I have been going to Mien Nghia for 23 years. The Valley location was my go to. It was so nice to walk in and the older woman already knew what my order would be. Till this day I still order the "Ching Wong" (forgive my spelling!!!) At the Garvey location. Yellow noodle special. I remember anyways getting the "May Wong" and realized I don't like the rice noodles and just asked, does it come with just yellow noodles? And I was educated the only way a Cantonese lady can, dummy it's called a "Ching Wong"! Even though the Valley location shut down, The flavor has not changed for me at this location. The owner is nice and the portions are still the same size as I remembered. The floors are sticky, the tables may not be wiped clean but I can look passed all of that for a bowl of my favorite noodles and a huge scope of chili crisp. Don't forget to ask for extra garlic sauce? for your soup!
Simple noodles breakfast restaurant. It's just hit home whenever i eat here. Get extra soup ... you can taste the chicken bone (with some added MSG ). Big portion. Parking is not a problem here plenty of spaces. They closed on Tuesday btw.
Ordered to go: quick easy phone ordering. Ready in 10 min. Remember this place is CASH or Venmo only. Food: ordered the fried rice cake w egg. Such a simple dish but I love it. Can eat this daily. It's seasoned well. I love the addition of the green onions and fried onions on top. Comes with dipping sauce but it was so flavorful I didn't need it. 10/10 Won ton soup with thick egg noodle. Comes with 6 wonton dumplings and your choice of noodles. This place has 6 types of noodles. It was good and filling. 8/10
This place is the place if you're looking for well-priced, great-portioned, slurp-a-licious noodles. I live in Silver Lake but try and get here every two weeks or so. Trust me when I say it's worth the drive. Go here, choose what type of noodle bowl you'd like, choose what type of noodle you want, pick with soup or even a dry version - the options are endless. Only thing is that it's cash only but they also accept Venmo!
This spot is somewhat like a hole-in-the-wall because not a lot of tourists come here and that's how you know it's legit. Normally filled with locals, this restaurant keeps customers coming back because their food is just THAT good. I always order the chicken and fish noodle soup with medium thick egg noodles. There's normally a bowl of extra bean sprouts and leeks on the side to give the dish more flavor and crunch. DON'T forget to ask for extra fried onions too because that stuff is what makes the dish REAL good. An optional add-in would be their vinegar with garlic mixture. Ask for this and it comes in a small plastic to-go container. Try your soup before adding this. I'd recommend trying some in your spoon with the soup before just tossing it all in your bowl. Most people get the Chinese fried donut sticks on the side to eat with their soup. It's really good here too but I'm normally too stuffed with just this bowl of noodle soup, so I only order that on days when I really want to indulge. Lastly but most importantly, this place is cash only. They have started taking venmo too, but credit cards are not accepted. Since they are a small business, I always make sure to tip nicely and encourage others to come try them!
:: Food/Drink :: A great spot for when you're craving noodles. I usually get the assorted meat with egg noodles or the kidney and shrimp with egg noodles. Their cafe sua da is good, I mean it's Vietnamese coffee.. can't go wrong with that. Their iced tea is also surprisingly good, it does cost $0.75 as a heads up. :: Service :: The owner is super chill and nice. :: Parking :: They have their own parking lot. :: Restroom :: Yes, they have a restroom. :: Tip :: Cash only.
Cash only! This place always hits the spot when I'm craving egg noodles! I'm a lazy eater, so I always order my soup in the same bowl as my noodles. My go-to order is the #2, assorted meat & shrimp with egg noodles. Would recommend ordering the Chinese donuts on the side to dip into the broth.
We have been going to this restaurant for over 20 plus years ever since this restaurant used to be located on Valley. Now, they are located on Garvey and Del Mar. They have their own parking lot and you can also park on the street. The service is fast and the food comes out quickly. In the past, I usually ordered their BBQ pork with egg and rice noodle. That was my go to dish until recently when I started to order their satay sauce and beef with rice noodle. Both of these dishes are delicious. You can't go wrong with ordering any of their noodle dishes here.
They have been in business for years! Ever since I was a little girl actually and until well I'm a bigger girl now. It's no surprise that their business is so successful because every single time you eat here it is always ALWAYS consistently DELICIOUSLY AMAZINGLY SO SO so so Good! I wish I could pick up the entire restaurant and take it home with me. We live about 1 hour and 30 minutes away from here but, our relatives are around this area so we would always make a stop every chance we can. We love everything here! From their Chinese donuts, to the rice cakes with the egg and their noodles to their chili oil that they actually have for sale at the cashier! This is a perfect restaurant! PERIOD!! If you guys want to eat something good and satisfying and it won't break your bank too then come here!! Cash only btw!
Love this spot for comfort Canto food (is it Canto?). They have a huge selection of different noodle soups that you can choose from and also give you the option of 9 different noodle styles (my fave is the large egg noodle). Their noodle soups have a bit of MSG (you can taste it a little), but it's also way lighter compared to similar restaurants I've had around LA that serve this style. However, the proteins here are really superb (definitely superior!) and the overall flavor is highly worth it. Also if you indulge in pork kidney anything, you can order the ones with the soup, but they also have a standalone PORK KIDNEY A LA CARTE SAUCE dish that tops it off with green onion, cilantro, and this really dank sauce (comparable to places in Asia!). No credit card and they close super early, but pretty worth the drive out on a weekend (especially after some drinking shenanigans??).
